ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: The tv tuner, FM tuner, Remote Wonder II, dual-monitor capability, and good gaming performance provide a nice mix of features and performance.

Weakness: If gaming is your only interest, other cards with higher gaming performance, but probably fewer features, do exist.

This card provides a wonderful mix of multimedia features and gaming performance. Its tv tuner (coupled to an antenna or regular cable), along with the associated recording software, is quite useful, and its dual-monitor capability and FM tuner are features that my older All-in-Wonder models did not have. The Remote Wonder II remote control, which is included in the box, is a handy addition to almost any computer system. The gaming performance of this card also seems quite good. If gaming is your only interest, though, other cards with higher gaming performance, but probably fewer features, do exist. I found this card to be a nice balance of features, performance, and price.

(Remember, too, that updated software is frequently released on their website.)

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Fast 2D/3D, video capture and TV/FM tuner with free onscreen guide and radio frequency remote, S-Video and composite output to TV, installs easily. Turn your PC into a TIVO!

Weakness: Drivers on CD are older than those at ATI.com - download them first before installing for best results. The range on the remote is not as good as advertised, but it does work through walls.

I previously owned a Rage128 16MB All-In-Wonder card, and was very happy with it (once I updated the drivers). ATI makes the best TV tuner video cards, and the Raedon 9600XT is a very fast one for the price. I think it is the best deal today, since it supports two simultaneous video displays and an FM tuner, which the AIW 9800 and newest X800 series lack. I looked at NVidia's cards, but the All in Wonder series are more "mature" than their Personal Cinema cards. As an author of computer tutorials, I use the dual displays with CAD running on one monitor, and my word processor on the other. An interesting feature is that I've tipped my secondary monitor on its side, and use the ATI driver to rotate the screen 90 degrees to get a portrait display showing a full word processor page. I have no regrets about the card, and got a very good price and fast shipment from Micer.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Very rich feature set. Great Price. Solid Performance.

Weakness: No DVI (my biggest disappointment `cause I have a digital LCD).

Great feature set with this card: FM tuner, CATV, Dual Monitor Support, Remote Wonder II, SmartShader 2.1, DirectX 9.0, OpenGL 1.5... (Lots of goodies)
Performance wise: This card runs at a clock speed of 525MHz which is higher than both 9600Pro (400MHz) or non-AIW 9600XT (500MHz) and together with the memory bandwidth advantage, it yields better performance than these 2 cousins.
The only disappointment to me is instead of having DVI-I+VGA for dual monitor support as on other ATI cards, it only has VGA+VGA and so my LCD is forced to use the analog mode...
Overall, this is a great card at this price. Listen to FM, watch TV, capture video or even make a simple home video together with great 2D/3D graphics performance, you can't beat that!!!

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Solid graphics performance, very feature rich media options, dual monitor and radio features

Weakness: tricky upgrade from previous ATI product, TV quality is 'OK'

I upgraded to this product from an All In Wonder 8500DV. I wanted better sheer graphics performance as well as FM radio recording ability. Also, I have an ATI TV card in my wife's computer upstairs and didn't want to have interference between the two Remote Wonders that each card uses (my house is small enough that the RF signal would reach her PC and mine simultaneously!). The newer version of the Remote Wonder included with the 9600XT fortunately eliminated this potential problem.

I had to do a bit of monkeying around to get my old AIW card drivers, etc OFF the PC and do as fresh an install of this card as possible. It was eventually successful without too much hassle. The features of this card are VERY impressive. I love the dual monitor support. I do not use the DVD player so I can't comment on that, but I do not believe you will be disappointed!!

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Versatility, value, performance, dual-display

Weakness: No dual DVI

Last December I bought an AIW 9600Pro for video editing purposes and was satisfied with it but I later gave it to my brother-in-law before I actually did any video stuff. I then bought AIW 9600XT at Newegg for less than what I paid for the Pro. It's a steal. Newegg rocks! Although this card did not have HL2 bundle like the Pro but it did come with the new Remote Wonder II, FM antenna and better cooling.

This card is powerful enough to play most of today's games with decent resolution. If you mostly play games and is willing to pay almost twice as much then you can consider AIW 9800Pro. But you will lose dual-display ability at the same time.

The All-in-Wonder series from ATI are simply the best multimedia display cards on the market. That's why I'm buying ATI again.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: -Remote Wonder 2 -FM Recording -Guide Features

Weakness: No DVI port of Half Life 2 coupon.

Overall, the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses. This card provides it all, as per its name, the All-In-Wonder. Providing better 3D graphics than the Pro verson and the best of all Radon 9600 cards, the Multimedia features are an added bonus. The guide features are some of the best as far as TV Tuner cards go, and the addition of FM is a great addition from the Pro. Every feature of the card is enhanced with the Remote Wonder 2.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Awesome card.... just incredible, fast and best AIW features.

Weakness: i couldnt able to run FM yet... but i know its fixable... None weakness what so ever... A++++ product.. NO HL2

i would say it is one best of the best videocard out there, and AIW feature makes it way better then it is. new remote wonder II is great and installation is easy just walk through the step from manual. what can i say HL2 doesnt come with this videocard and that make me little sad, but on the other hand it has wonder II makes it even, so if you are getting AIW 9600 PRO you have to send a coupon to ATI and wait for 4 weeks and pay for shiping and handing chargers, while with this you dont have to send nothing. cause it comes with everthing. i havent use the recording feature but as long as TV is concern it has equal reception as real TV does. well, in some cases better then it since it have TV guide built in. i dont have anymore words to explain but i will recommand people to buy this card rather then AIW 9600 pro which is also good but not great as this. except that has HL2. last but not least games have came to new life, and much faster...since it has nice filters and nice speed to it, since everybody knows it is supports next generation games with direct 9.0X.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: - very powerful/capable as a video graphics card - strong enough to be useful for the next few years; no worries about it becoming technologically obsolete - great multimedia capab.; awesome remote

Weakness: - TV Tuner not as good as other brands - multimedia suite takes some fine tuning - remote dongle may require powered USB hub for some users

This card is being offered at a great price. I bought it b/c i am building a Home Theater PC and it´s a great alternative considering the price. Were you to purchase the equivalent non All-In-Wonder version of this card and a TV Tuner as good as this one, you´re looking at at least $50 more than what you can buy this card for. This doesn´t inlcude the remote control factor, as the Remote Wonder II that comes with this package is one of the best out there.

Downsides, you are stuck with the card and upgradeability becomes restricted. The fine-tuning of the software and drivers can be a pain. Compatibility with Windows XP Media Center Edition requires "alternate" drivers, as this card is not fully compatible for PVR functions out of the box in a Windows XP MCE machine.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: The TV capability such as turning your PC into a TIVO is just awesome.

Weakness: Only 128MB and no DVI but that do not matter much.

This is the best all around video card that allows you watch TV and record TV programs directly to your hard drive in your computer at a reasonable price. ATI came out with the all-in-wonder 9800 but they are too expensive and still only have 128MB. This is really all you need for video capturing, watching TV on your monitor, etc.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Does almost everything: listen to radio, watch tv, record radio and tv

Weakness: none

This is a great graphics card to get. You can watch tv and listen to the radio. It even includes the remote wonder II, which allows you to control your computer for presentations and to change channels when watching tv. I think it's processor speed is even faster than the 9800 and with the powerstrip control panel, you can boost the speed of the card up. Even with games at the highest graphics setting, the graphics run smoothly. Great card to get if you're on a budget (under $200).

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Great all-around video/entertainment/gaming card. Comes with the latest and greatest ATI remote control.

Weakness: FM tuner is pretty bad (software issue?); TV tuner won't start a scheduled recording if the computer is locked (Windows XP)

I don't do much gaming, but this card has been just fine for my needs. The TV tuner works well with pretty good, though not great picture quality (using cable TV). I can also play the latest games on it if I want to.

If only ATI got their act together with the software, it would be a great card. For instance, the first few months I had this card, I couldn't use the FM tuner because it would turn to static after a couple minutes of play. It turned out to be a conflict with a Norton Antivirus driver. It's ridiculous that ATI let such a big bug slip through since so many people use Norton Antivirus. I'm not sure if they've fixed the issue yet (the workaround posted on their site was to temporarily disable the antivirus--unacceptable!), but I'm using a different antivirus program now and it seems to work OK. Though, the FM reception still isn't as smooth as it should be (sounds like it's "skipping" sometimes), which is probably still a software problem.

Another ridiculous problem is that the ATI software won't start a TV recording that you've scheduled if your Windows XP machine is locked. For instance, if you're using Fast-User-Switching in Windows XP and the computer goes to the Welcome Screen, you're recording won't start. ATI claims they are working with Microsoft on a fix, but I don't have high hopes.

Still a good value for the money if you can stand those two issues.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: TV capabilities

Weakness: Heat sink and fan seam a bit small.

This is the first ATI card I have used in building. Got it to eliminate the need for buying a TV tuner capable monitor.Has support for dual monitors and can record from TV to Hard Drive. Also has a lot of neat software features such as Programming guides.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Tv capturing; along with a strong video card. The 9600XT AIW included a Wonder II remote control. Very functional. Descent cables. FM tuner. Dual outputs(analog). Software seems strong but...

Weakness: Very little instructions included and not straight forward. Software function not explained and very UNCUSTOMIZABLE. Also they take over file associations of everything WITHOUT ASKING FIRST; UNCOOL!

The documentation included was BASIC. Relying more on help files on the software included. The card was easy to install, but the software/drivers information was unclear. In my opinion everything should have been laid out with an explanation. I ended up doin a click on everything to make sure I wasn't missing any software. The software installed where it wanted to not where I would have liked it.
ATI includes its own cdplayer/dvdplayer/software etc. and it took over all relevant file associations without ever asking!! GRRRR! Takes a while to reconfigure when you use several different programs.
Lots of software package/parts included, but it has been a hard learning curve finding out how to use them. Without what? ANS: Quality documentation! ALSO the registration at both the ATI site and other software sites was complicated. Often what I had wasn't listed by the manufacturers. You'd think ATI would set up something for easier seemless registration.
The remote wonder II is quite powerful in range and functionality. Makes a keyboard unnecessary for many/most multimedia functionality/playback.
I am using this card in an Upgraded Dell Dim 8100. Upgraded via powerleap adapter and OEM P4 2.8GHZ, 400mhz FSB, and 512mb with ME. Plays most games (Battlefield 1942, Mafia, Command&Conquer generals) with few issues.
This card is really a step up for me to 128mb.
Pet peave: Went to the ATI site to look for updates to the drivers. Unfortunately the drivers listed in Windows device manager are not even remotely close to what is available for download. Why can't they make driver updating built in or more streamlined. I should know within a few minutes whether I have the latest driver or whether I need to download some parts and not others. The website is cluttered and uninformative!!! I am sure it makes sense to a tech but I am no computer slouch either. Will update further (so far 2months and I am relatively happy). I guess I just expect more customer centered thought in all my products.

Well, ATI seems like the 800 LB gorilla in the video market and apparently doesn't care.

I think I'm going to look at nVidia.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: Nice TV capability

Weakness: Horrible, flimsy A/V Out

This would be a decent card if ATI had not used the multi purpose, do all A/V out connection. They under spec'd the screws holding the dongle. The used an octupus dongle to connect to monitors, TVs etc. that over leverage the A/V out connector.

ATI - use an engineer next time.

ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 XT Video Card

Strengths: all in one video, tv, and capture card.

Weakness: software a little buggy

I previously owned the original all-in-wonder card, including its extremely unstable and buggy drivers and software. after years of tweaking, the thing still doesnt work quite right but the concept was great. The AIW 9600XT surpassed all my expectations, and while the software is still slightly quirky the graphics performance is up there with other mid-range cards. Buttons on remote are a little small, but it works very well
