AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Fast, stable, no problems, 64-bit, good value

Weakness: None

I am very pleased with my 3500+ CPU. It sits on a MSI Neo4 Platinum motherboard with 1GB Corsair XMS PC3200 matched pair, XFX GeForce 6600 GT, and 2 Western Digital 80 GB hard drives in a Raid-0 stripe. Game play is awesome, DVD encoding is fast, XP SP2 boots up in about 15 seconds (about 5 seconds when running OS & no apps). The price was OK, a little costly but not too expensive. I tried 64-bit XP trial but there wasn't enough driver support so I'll give that some time and stick with 32-bit. The nice thing about socket 939 and NForce4 is future CPU compatibility, unlike Intel who keeps changing chipsets.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Fast, smooth and easy to plug in on motherboard.

Works great with my new motherboard.Fast process time as I imagined. I had AMD Athlon 800MHz CPU earlier and its a big jump for me from 800MHz to 2.2 GHz. Would definitely recommend it over Intel processors.Great product for desktops.Thanks.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Fast, reliable, and stays pretty cool

Weakness: None so far

I built my new computer about a month ago with a gig of DDR 400 and this CPU on an Abit AV8 motherboard. It's faster than my old PIII 1.2ghz w/512mb PC133 (duh) and it also stays cooler. Whenever the 64-bit is implemented I'll see how good that is, but for now it seems like a great CPU. I just need a new video card...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Easy to install, fast

Weakness: none as yet

I setup my system yesterday...athlon 3500+, 1 gb crucial PC3200 RAM, X800 XT, western digital SATA 10000 RPM 80 gb drive, 500w x-connect power supply, A8V deluxe motherboard. I have not installed a lot of softwares as yet, but everything so far runs extremely fast. This was my first AMD processor and I decided to go with it after a few recommendations. Since I bought it recently I got it for $279...just about a month or so ago it was 400+, so it was nice to see such a drastic drop in its price...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: CPU works wonderfully. It is very fast and the 64-bits it awesome.

I wouldn't have anything other than the 64-bit processor CPU. This new CPU technology is very fast and reliable. It is great in 32-bits and is the upcoming CPU with 64-bits.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: fast and best value of the socket 939 selection available

Weakness: get the 90nm version over standard from monarch computer sytems!

I used this cpu in conjunction with Kingston pc3200 ddr memory on a Gigabyte k8nsnxp-939 motherboard with Western Digital Raptor 10000rpm sata harddrive and the combination performed beautifully on most HD digital video applications; with the exception of realtime video editing where dual cpu and more speed would be required. For a combined price including rebates of around $500 upgrade, I would think I got an exception pc result for my digital video needs!

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: There isn't much out there that can best this processor...and almost all of them are its big brothers.

Weakness: None...nono I actually mean none. This thing is lightning quick. If you don't believe me go read the other million or so reviews of this chip on the net that all say "AWESOME".

Where do I begin...AMD is a great brand name that makes arguably the best chips in the world. It's a 64-bit procesor so that makes it futuristic...or something. I don't really know what I can say about this other then it is a great chip and beats my P4 3.2 ghz easily.

I suppose the price is the only real hinderance as it isn't the cheapest on the market, but it is much more reasonable then the +3800.

I'm not sure at this time there is any real reason to go with the winchester core so I decided to save a bit of money and go for the newcastle.

You won't go wrong with chip.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Very fast cpu!

Weakness: Limited availability, high $ cost.

I can install Windows XP in ~10 minutes when combined with a 10K Western Digital Raptor hard drive. I can encode CD->MP3, listen to an MP3, surf the web and do email all at once!

I think socket 754 is a better bang for your $ - you just have to buy technology that's being phased out :(

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Great product. Lowest price on socket-939 processor

Weakness: Lower cache memory than 3400+

Greatly priced AMD processor. The company improved the price by cutting down on cache but utilizing dual channel DDR memory. Overral a great buy !!!

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: it works

Weakness: none

i put it together with a asus a8v deluxe and 2 gigs of kingston RAM. it's worked out great. no crashes, no blue screens. I can run photoshop, premiere, firefox, and winamp all at top speeds, all at the same time - with no lag.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: very reliable, good price.

Weakness: none

AMD is the bomb. Athlon 3500 is the bomb. I love their 939 socket chipset. This CPU is such a great item for the price I had to get it. I can always upgrade later if I really need more speed but for the price, you can't beat it. Look at all the reviews and benchmarks. You can do pretty much everything you need to with this CPU.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: It is a good price for a CPU with some of the newest technology out there. It is plenty fast.

Weakness: It would be better if you could have the choice of a L2 cache in 1Mb as well as the 512Kb.

I have always been a fan of AMD. You always get the biggest bang for your buck and this is no exception.
Just wish it did better with video rendering. I think if they made this chip available with 1Mb cache as well as 512Kb it would give us encoders another option without the high prices of the FX models.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Speed. Price.

Weakness: Packaging. It may kill your motherboard but it it won't harm the environment!

The AMD Athlon64 3500+ is definitely a fast processor for the money. It currently occupies my "Sweet spot" for most processor bang for the buck. I have not yet been able to assess the speed in 64 bit applications as I have none but it sufficiently fast in my new 32 bit server running Windows 2003 server.
However the green biodegradable tray AMD used in the packaging started biodegrading way before I even openend the box. The processoor and the heat transfer material were covered with a mess of green powder which was quite a chore to clean up, and probably would have fried my motherboard had I done so incompletely.
What's wrong with cardboard packaging? Last I checked, it's recyclable.
My suggestion: Make fast processors. Leave the worrying about the environment to Ralph Nader.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor

Strengths: Great Price for a 3500+ 64bit processor. Completely compatible with Windows 32 and 64 bit software.

Weakness: Does not seem to process video and audio data and software as fast as Intel's Pentium 4.

I did not have any trouble loading the Windows XP64 trial software. It seems to run most applications faster than it's intel counterpart using 32bit Windows XP. After a coulple of weeks with Windows XP64, I choose to reload with the retail 32 bit Windows XP and now all my applications seem to run slower than my Dell system with a intel pentium 4 3.0 Ghz. Until Microsoft sells and supports Windows XP64 better, I would rather have the intel pentium 4, 3.4Ghz processor. It cost a little more, but it is way faster on 32 bit Windows XP.

If an AMD product is running slower than a similar Intel chip, something is funky with your setup.

I run two of these, one on this machine and another in a 'puter built for software synths.

A 128 voice midi sequencer plus control software is not a small system resource drain.

Check your setup again - something doesn't sound right.
