Decent features for Media center

Strengths: HDMI and Component out

Weakness: SPDIF connector not included and only 2 RAM slots

This board is fairly decent for the media center setup. The onboard video is perfect for a media center including HDMI and component/S-video out right out of the box. This board was not meant for extreem gaming, but that could be accomplished by using the PCI-X expansion board. The downsides were that they didn't include a $10 SPDIF connector in the box as it is an option. That bracket is very hard to come by and you have to contact MSI support directly.

Good MOBO from MSI

Strengths: HDMI support, integrated graphics, Gigabit ethernet connector, 7 channel integrated sound, AMD 690G chipset, small form factor.

Weakness: Only 2 memory slots but they support up to 4GB of DDR2 800 memory.

This MSI motherboard has support for HDMI (high definition media interface). This is essential for Hi-Def connections. Although this MOBO is not suitable for the extreme gamer, if you're looking to put together a media centre PC, this is a perfect board. Not only are the integrated graphics - which can be upgraded at a later date using the PCI connector - and HDMI fine for such a purpose, this motherboard uses passive cooling. With fewer fans than is generally the case, the motherboard generates considerably less noise. I recommend it!

Great HTPC HMDI Motherboard

Strengths: HDMI connection

Weakness: Only 2 memory slots

Onboard HDMI great for HTPC. Gigabit LAN, Firewire and Firewire header, 10 USB, 4 SATA ports. No Chipset Fans. Silent. Everything you need for a HTPC motherboard except digital coax or optical out for the sound. This is taken care by the HDMI connection.

Great deal for MSI motherboard

Strengths: On board HDMI, Gb Lan, Rear Firewire + Firewire header, 10 USB, SATA RAID

Weakness: MSI LiveUpdate does not yet work properly with Vista.

First, this motherboard has 690G chip, it's a good integrate chip. And if you want to build a home theater computer, it's a good choice. The price is a little bit higher but it's worthy. So I recommend this MSI K9AGM2-FIH.
