Intel Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz ProcessorStrengths: Stable, included cooling works well, great value Weakness: Could be faster, has been replaced with Hyper Threading and will soon be replaced by 64-bit architecture I bought this processor as a bundle with a motherboard. First let me just say that this thing is FAST. For whatever you're into - basic computing tasks, multitasking, gaming - this processor will do the job, and it will do it quickly. Having used it for nearly a year though, I realize that there are faster chips out there (3+ GHz Intel Pentium 4), chips with more features (Hyper Threading), and chips with better architecture (64 bit Power Mac G5, Intel, and AMD chips). But the fact remains, these chips are costly, and 2.4 GHz isn't that far off from 3 GHz. If you're looking for the lowest cost/benefit ratio, this chip is for you. If you're looking for bleeding edge performance, take a look at chips with more advanced architecture. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz ProcessorStrengths: 512KB L2 Cache; 533MHz FSB; 2.4GHz Northwood Architecture; Mainstream; Reliable Weakness: Lacks 'Hyperthreading Technology;' I put this Pentium 4 2.4B processor on an Intel D845PEBT2 motherboard with 512MB DDR333 SDRAM, Windows XP Home w/ SP1, and an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro (neither tweaked nor overclocked,) and there were absolutely no problems. The system runs C&C Generals and Earth and Beyond flawlessly at maximum graphics settings with DirectX 8.1. 3DMark03 (after upgrade to DirectX 9) Overall Score: 2475 (with no overclocking) CPU Overall: 490; PCMark 2002: CPU 5946, Memory 6083, HDD 1109; 3DMark2001SE: 11808 @ 1024X768X32, 13592 @ 800X600X16. This is a stable system that exceeds the end user's expectations, thanks in large part to the 2.4B Pentium 4. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz ProcessorStrengths: Decent Speed Weakness: COST!!!!!!!!!!! No point in buying this chip. The AMD Athlon is faster and cheaper and thats the bottom line. There's nothing actually wrong with the P4, there's just no point in getting it. 25% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz ProcessorStrengths: good for gamers I am a GAMER!! I have over 110 gigs of high end top of the line games on my system. And I can tell you, this chip can handle the load. At times there is a slight lag, but what do you expect with the massive amount of graphics and datd on my system. On line gaming, even with cable could be better though. All in all I rate this chip 3 1/2 out of 5...a good reliable chip especially for less demanding users. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Intel Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz ProcessorStrengths: Speed..Stability..Compatability... Weakness: None really I upgraded from a Pentium III 1000 and I'm very pleased with the preformance. I am using a Asus P4PE-BP board and I am using crucial memory. I found the CPU for a mere $160! Great price and I just love it! 0% of readers found this review helpful. Intel Pentium 4 - 2.40 GHz Processor
Strengths: Fast, reliable, cooler running than AMD
Weakness: none, maybe the Hyperthreading but who supports it right now.
This chip is for someone that wants to play games, do movie editing and do everything without a hassle. Also note that if your Heatsink accidently falls off your socket it wont burn up and kill you mobo a long with it(hint:AMD Processors) remember you get what you paid for, so far I like it, runs smooth and cool.
Ignore the person on the bottom, just another AMD nut.
