Intel Pentium 4 650

Strengths: Superior Performance for Work or Play Benefits such as: EM64T, 2MB L2 Cache, Enhanced SpeedStep, Execute Disable Bit, HT Tech, Overclock-ablity and Price!

Weakness: Heat, however now intel addressed this issue and it runs cooler than the 5xx Series.

Upgraded from a 5xx series processor and saw noticeable change in performance. Encoding is a lot faster now and also loading times Expedited.

EM64T : Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) is an enhancement to Intel's IA-32 architecture. The enhancement allows the processor to run newly written 64-bit code and access larger amounts of memory.

2MB L2 Cache : A larger cache size can help the processor more efficiently run many popular applications in digital imaging, music, video and gaming.

Enhanced SpeedStep : Enables cooler and quieter PC designs (depending on system implementation and usage).

Execute Disable Bit : Can improve protection against malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when properly enabled with a supporting operating system.

nice CPU

Strengths: fast CPU, easy install

Weakness: a little noisy, the fan should be bigger

very good CPU. It temperature is around 40 degrees when idle and 53 degrees when running 100% CPU. Environment is 28 degrees. 2M catch. if the fan was quiet, should be fine.

Works Well

Strengths: Fast

Weakness: None at the moment

A simple pentium processor that generates fast computing power for an average price. I have used this and a pentium dual core 2.8ghz and for about the same price, I feel this product runs smoother atm. I can't speak for the heatsink though, as I have replaced mine with a more efficient model. Many people have said intel stock heatsinks are poor in quality and create a lot of heat.

Excellent Processor, Totally Stable

Strengths: this processeor is extremely fast and very quiet which is why I like it.

Weakness: that CPU runs hot, but now with Arctic Silver, even on a full load, it does not exceed 57 C, it still seems to idle at a high temp, but that could be that I am not use to such powerful processors.

at first, I was getting warnings about it running too hot. That was my fault because I did not have the fan on tight, but even when I did fix that problem, it still was running at 70+ C at 30% usage. I purchased some Arctic silver, it still idles around 48 C but it does not get much hotter 60 C

One of the best!

Strengths: Strong and cool!

Weakness: None

I recommend this processor for every system, it works so smoothly and nearly none of crash came up! I could have my job done faster than any systems. Use it to feel it!

Very Fast Processor

Strengths: Very powerful, stable, fast, and reliable processor. A lot of cache memory; 2MB! Latest Intel Technologies including support for 64 bit applications (EM64T). In general applications run very fast.

Weakness: It gets a little bit hot, but with some cooling paste, CPU air duct and fan, the heat problem is resolved!

Intel manufactures excellent CPUs, and this one was not the exception. The cost of the CPU is also reasonable compared to a Dual core Pentium D or AMD 64FX. For example, the price of a Pentium D 2.8GHz is almost the same as the Pentium 4 650 3.4GHz. So you get less speed for more money.

I am very satisfied with this product and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is building a new computer system.

Hot Proccesor

Strengths: Fast, Decent Price

Weakness: Hot

With 5 fans I still can get it to stay below the reccomended 38 degrees C, but it does not seem to matter that its running warm, runs autodesk inventor and games great faster than new dell precision comps with xeon processors.

faster than the socket 478 models, but it runs hotter

Strengths: very fast and easy to install, compatible with a wide range of motherboards.

Weakness: expensive, but not as expensive as the dual core models.

This works great for video editing and is fully capable of supporting 64 bit windows xp. I am currently using windows xp 32 bit and do not plan on upgrading until windows vista, but with a compatible motherboard, this proc. is 64 bit ready.

Very expensive and a 3.0 or 3.2 ghz would probably be a slightly better value, however i have yet to be let down by a pentium four.

This does idle a few degreees hotter than my previous pentium four processors, and requires the fan to run at a higher rpm, thus making for not such a quiet computer, however the processor is performing well--i use it for video editing and have had nothing but good experience with it so far.

Great CPU!!!

Strengths: Fast, powerful and inexpensive.

Weakness: None

Want to build a kick-butt gaming machine on a buget? This is the CPU for you. Be sure you have a good motherboard and a good case that can breath well so that heat won't be an issue. I am running mine with the stock fan and heatsink and I have none of the heat issues that others have written about. I run about 39 degrees Celsius (max about 41 degrees).

Note: The motherboard that I am using is the ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe (I highly recommend this board!!!)

Good Processor

Strengths: Good quality, Intel support, quick

Weakness: None

I upgraded from a 3.0 478 package. In the performance tests it does not seem that much faster, however I upgraded my memory, motherboard, and video card as well, so it's hard to tell which individual part made the biggest change. Many people have written about how hot this runs. I found that the default fan settings did not even take the fan off idle (1000rpm) until the processor was showing over 60 degrees C. Once I adjusted the fan start point the processor instantly cooled off over 10 degrees.
