Fast Processor !

Strengths: Fast, 64-Bit support, reliability, 3-year warranty.

Weakness: None

I have not found this processor to run hot with the stock heatsink, seems to be anywhere from 38°C-45°C depending on system stress. The fan is slightly louder than what I am used to with my second system's 2.4GHz Prescott, but very tollerable anyway.

This processor is fast enough to keep up with any of the new games, as long as the rest of the system is up to specs as well, and is also forward compatible with the newer 64-bit OS and software that will be ever increasingly coming to market over the next few years.

Fast, reliable, future 64-bit compatible ... what more could you want ... oh, did I mention it was fast? ;)

Intel Pentium-4 630

Strengths: Hyper Threading, Speedstep Technology, Extended Memory 64 Technology

Weakness: Speedstep Technology should lower the speed even more.

I just build a new computer to replace my old AMD Atherton 700mhz computer. I do a lot of video editing for home movie DVDs. The old computer was just taking too long to transcode the video for DVDs.

I picked the 630 over the 800 series Pentium Ds because I felt the price difference was not worth the little performance increase. I also hear the 800 series has heat problems and Intel will be coming out with a newer, better, cooler 900 series sometime next year.

My video software uses multi threads so the 630's HT helps speed thing up. The processor's performance also greatly reduces the transcode time of my old computer.

I like the speedstep but you have to set the BIO and Windows Power Scheme to non-desktop to enable it. Speedstep only reduces the speed from 3.0 GHz to 2.8 GHz when the computer is under low load. I feel it should reduce it to even further like to 2.0 GHz. Why use the power and generate the heat when you don't need it?

I installed Windows XP x64. Window 64 lack 64 bit drivers so some programs are not useful but that is a software problem, not a 630 problem.

All in all I am very happy with the 630 and the increase computer power over my old computer.

Great, super fast processor!

Strengths: Fast, runs cool, capable of running the lastest games

Weakness: socket 775 is difficult to use

This is a really great processor. I haven't tried overclocking it, but frankly, I don't need to. It smokes my old Pentium 4 2.6 processor because it can take advantage of DDR2 and PCI-E technology. The only downside to the new socket 775 is that it can be somewhat difficult to get the included processor fan installed. There is a peg and wing system that simply doesn't work as well as intel had intended. However, once you get the thing installed, it's excellent!

Yeah, that fan is a little tricky and hard to snap in at first, but after a few install it is quit easy. Just make sure the pegs are turned correctly.

Great value processor

Strengths: Fast, very affordable computing

Weakness: Hot, hot, hot!

This is a solid performer but it runs way too hot. Even with an aftermarket thermaltake cooler I was idling right at Intel's recommended 38c. Intel put a ridiculous number like that on this processor so that you basically void the warranty the moment you install it.

Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor with HT Technology

Strengths: Relatively Inexpensive, Fast Operation, Easy to Install

Weakness: Tends to heat up a bit

This is a great value for a processor with HT technology. I have seen my system performance increase significantly, especially when trying to run multiple programs at the same time. The EM64T capablities is an added bonus especially since Microsoft's new operating systems will likely require 64 bit processors. I Definitely would recommend this product for people looking for better system performance at a good price.

Intel P4 3.0Ghz Excellent!!

Strengths: Intel is by far the best processor out there.

Weakness: Little more pricey than the others, but worth every penny.

I have been building PC's for a long time and I find that the Intel tends to be more stable in the long run over the other processor. This new LG775 technology is just one more step to perfection.

Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor with HT Technology

Strengths: It works.

Weakness: None that I have seen.

What can I say? It's another fine product from the folks at Intel. Even though I bought the CPU 2nd hand, it still worked very well, but that's just what we have come to expect from a CPU these days.

Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor with HT Technology

Strengths: Very fast!

Weakness: Runs HOT! VERY LOUD FAN!

Upgraded from P4 1.6. Quite a performance increase. Only problem was had to buy new case with 120MM case fan and CPU duct for cooling. Operates quietly when ambient is in 70's, but it was 85 today and fan was running at 3900+ rpm, sounded like an airplane. Ordered 2 more case fans today and hope it keeps the cpu fan under 3000rpm.

Intel P4 3.0Ghz

Strengths: Fast, reliable,

Weakness: none

This is a great processor! It is awesome for everyday tasks and other big programs. I would recommend this processor for everybody. (For hardcore gamers, this processor is okay, I'd suggest an AMD though. Otherwise, buy this!)

Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor with HT Technology

Strengths: 64 bit support

Weakness: Loud

Replaced 3.0 478 Prescott, after changed mobo. Previous had Zalman 7000Cu, but was 49 idle, 60 full load, this one, with stock heatsink is 41 idle, 54 full load, overclocked to 3.2 (at least asus pcprobe shows that). But very loud fan of stock heatsink, will replace it with zalman 7700Cu. Installation was easy. Waiting for Win 64. If you MUST upgrade - buy, not - wait for next generation of CPUs.

Some modifications to my case cooled it right down. 35C at idle. Didn't get a chance to test it at full load yet. I bought a Dracula 480W case with a case fan next to the CPU. I removed the safety cover they had on it. Took out that fan and moved it to the front blowing air out. Adding a third fan in the side of the case did the trick. This is the next generation and it is great. This CPU rocks. With an Albatron P915 Pro mobo, Seagate SATA drive and a Gigabyte GeForce 6600 PCI Express graphics card, this is the fastest and smoothest machine I have ever built or used. Far Cry and Deus Ex Invisible War look and play great. I highly recommend the 630 CPU although they will only get faster at this point. I just wish I had $860 to buy the 3.8 GHz 670.

Intel

Strengths: Fast

Weakness: Could not find any

Have read comments that this is running hot, I do not have that problem, consistently running at 32 or 33C (90-91F), using Antec case TX1050B CHAS ATX 12V FT 500W with Intel stock fan. Have never seen it go higher than 101 F. Very pleased with its performance.

Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor with HT Technology

Strengths: fast, clockable, and ready for 64 bit apps and OS

Weakness: expensive, hot, hot, hot

Pro: fast, clockable, and ready for 64 bit apps and OS
Cons: expensive, hot, hot, hot, consider getting a heat pipe of some sort, the stock heat sink is huge but you need more. Overall a great processor and currently much faster then AMD.

Intel's new generation processor generates more heat than ever. It is better to use BTX case with a CPU thermal module to provide efficient cooling.

Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor with HT Technology

Strengths: Good, durable processor.

Weakness: HyperThreading only works with some applications. FSB too low.

I have purchased this processor because it was a pentium 4 with HT. Big mistake, I have found that the FSB tends to clog up and bunch up my RAM too often. Programs I throw at it seems to take a little bit longer than expected. But all in all, it gets me through the day. Thank you Mwave, you have brought me an awesome product that is in perfect condition.

Excellent

Strengths: Very fast

Weakness: None

I put Intel inside all the computers I build. When you use the best you can close the case and forget about it. It's fast, I have no problem with heat using the stock fan, and most important--it is reliable.

HT Technology....

Strengths: Handles my apps well

Weakness: HT??

I just built a brand new top of the line system, and its running a bit slow. Not all the time, but some random functions arent performing at the fastest speeds in the world. I'm a tech, and confirming with others, the biggest reccomendation I have found is to disable the HT technology to increase processing performence....

Any thoughts?

Great processor, but..

Strengths: Fast, relatively in fact, til another faster processor is dispached

Weakness: Aeroplane, blender, 6.0 L old car engine may be quitter than its fan.. I feel that i'm working in an iron factory

Windows XP setup runs in less than 10 min., that 's great. Full system scan by Norton for full 80 GB HD in less than 15 min, that's wonderfull. Espicially with 1 GB Ram DDR2. BUT THAT HORRIBLE SOUND DRIVES ME CRAZY, i think such fan may be used as a coolant undoubtfully for a car engine

good and reliable CPU

Strengths: performance/price ratio

Weakness: fan noise

I did quite a lot research before I bought this CPU. Unless you prefer AMD ones, this is the cpu with highest performance/price ratio.

I have used it for 2 months. The one thing i don't like is the fan is kind noisy and hard to intall.
