Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Super fast 3.2 GHZ 512KB HT/800 FSB, runs cooler than prescott.

Weakness: Pricey, but no regrets.

I put this processor in an ASUS P4C-800 E motherboard with 1GB of corsair twinx 3200C2 ram, and ASUS 9600XT/TVD Video Card. This CPU has to be my greatest upgrade to my computer because it blows my 1.8 ghz 400 mhz fsb/256Kb away; highly reccomended processor. Although the 3.2 E (prescott) has more cache (1mb), it uses more watt (104 watt) which generates more heat than the northwood (82 watt). A tip when buying this processor is to consider buying 3.2C (Northwood:512KB) instead of 3.2 E, because it is much cooler and thus performs better.

The stock Intel fan is not a good performer, so it is highly reccomended to buy a new CPU cooler; I am using Zalman 7700 CU which runs at 22-30 degrees.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: The fastest CPU for the money, once you factor in the cost of memory, motherboard, etc.

Weakness: Runs HOT with included Intel heatsink and fan

I've built two systems so far with the 3.2C and am frankly amazed by how fast this thing runs for the price I paid. My computers are used in a rendering farm 24/7 for CGI special effects creation (LightWave 7.5 and POV-Ray, mostly), and the 3.2C tears through video frames at a most gratifying speed. Very reliable and fast, especially when mated with a good motherboard and memory like the Abit IC7-G and Corsair TWINX10243200C2PT.

My only complaint about the Pentium 4 3.2C is the fan and heatsink included in the retail box--frankly, it's a bit flimsy and not all that efficient. Do yourself a favor and get an aftermarket heatsink/heatpipe and fan--your system will run at least 5-10 degrees C cooler.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: 800mhz, Hyper-Threading

Weakness: HUGE fan/heatsink combo

When added with a pair of Corsair DDR400 SIMMs and an 8xAGP video adapter, some of the fastest spreadsheet, desktop publishing, gaming and picture editing I have experienced so far. The heatsink isn't only very big, it's really heavy.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Competitive performance.

Weakness: It's expensive. But, when is the latest and greatest ever cheap?

The 64-bit argument is simply all hype for now. Will the changeover happen? Of course. But, by the time support is there for all things 64-bit it will be several years from now (or more).

It isn't just the OS which needs to be updated when true 64-bit arrives. Applications, games and everything else will also have to be updated before true 64-bit computing happens in the consumer market.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Hyper Trading, FSB 800mhz.,3.2Ghz (top in the market)

Weakness: abit pricy. But it pays off.

I'm glad that i owned this product. It is awesome and great speed. Also it has the FSB 800Mhz which makes my computer super fast and more data flow. Hyper Trading technology which build-in in this chips make me feel like doing everything at one time without crashing my computer.

This CPU ROCKS! I found the best price easily with Price Grabber and was happy to see that my favorite vendor just happened to have it the cheapest. I bought this CPU for gaming and it kicks butt!

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Extremely fast, the hyper threading is excellent. Photoshop flies with this new processor.

Weakness: No weaknesses so far.

I have been using AMD processors since 1999, finally switched over to Intel P4. Boy what a difference, this new 3.2 is a beast. Programs and installations fly. Processor is extremeley reliable and stable. Haven't had any problems yet, but this is because its coupled with an excellent Asus board.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Speed and well priced.

Weakness: Slighty outpace by some of AMD's new chips.

For two hunderd dollars less than the 3.4 GHz chip you can't go wrong. I've overclocked this chip by 5% and it runs super stable. I'd recommend this processor to any gamer out there that wants a high performacne chip! Intel chips in my opinion are the best way to go. 64 bit computing is still a ways off in the distance. Go Intel!!!

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Fast reliable with good installation documentation on Intel web site.

Weakness: None

Fast processor with Hyper-therading Technology and good performance. Some new versions of software are making use of this technology. I would recommend this processor to anyone look for speed. The price has come down.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Hyper-Threading Technology

Weakness: Price

However I did buy this immediately after the price drop. Never put a rig together before, but was a piece of cake. I now have a very nice/fast machine.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: This is a fast processor. Only the 3.2 Extreeme Edition is better (more cache) but this processor is $600 cheaper!

Weakness: Expensive still

IMO this is the best choice for building a screaming gaming PC. Intel is still the big boy and industry champ. The comparable AMD chip is more expensive and just not worth it.
64 bit is going to be the future, but the industry just isn't there yet. You can bet that the industry isn't going to massivly switch over until there are a lot of 64bit chips on the market.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Very Fast, Great for multitasking.

Weakness: Nothing

I'm building a new computer and I decided to go with something that will not be out performed in 6 months or so. I decided to go with this processor because the extreme edition was just priced WAY to high!!! It works fine in my computer, I was very impress on how fast my computer is now compared to the one I have now. I have no negatives feedback on this product. Totally recommended.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: The fastest around. Run it at compatible board with HT enabled and 800Mhz. FSB and you got your selfs a great system.

Weakness: I did not like the whole heat sink apparatus. Intel good go a little better with that. There is a lot of heat sink solutions on the market and I might consider one later on.

I had to go with this processor. With an ABIT IC7-Max3 mobo, 1G of Kingston memory, ATI Radeon 128 Pro and a SATA drive from Seagate, what else could I use. I am very happy with this system. I would highly recomend this processor to anyone who is looking for nothing but the best. Well, you can go with the new chip from Intel but over $1000 is a little steep for me. I got this from AccuPC for $395, not bad.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Extremely fast processor.

Weakness: none

An excellent processor from Intel. Processor is very fast and runs most applications with ease. I would recommend this product for gamers and power users. Also, the 800Mhz Front Side Bus is a plus for getting more processing power from this processor. Processor is fast enough to last for years.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Fast, Brand Name, Good For Multi-tasking

Weakness: not 64 bit, small 64kb L1 Cache, only 512kb L2 Cache, ruins future upgrading

This is a good chip, if you want to buy name brand Intel, i have the AMD 64 3200+ along with this chip. The Amd is just as fast, but will be able to operate a 64 bit OS in a year, which the Intel processors will have to operate in 32 bit. If you want to upgrade to an Intel 64 capatable chip, your gonna need a new motherboard, cause Intel plans to make a different socket for their 64 bit cpu's to fit in. Overall the Amd is a better deal, and leaves you with the ability to upgrade in the future. Plus the amd boasts a L1 of 128kb, and 1024kb L2.Oh yeah, 1600mhz fbs.

$295 doesnt sound like a deal to me.

If your goin to critize something, its best to know what your talking about

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: The 3.2 processor is very fast.

Weakness: none

When I received the processor I was very impressed with the speed of it.The 3.2 processor with the 800 front side bus out preforms my 2.53 533 front side bus processor. And I waited for the 3.4 to come out so the price would drop.I got A very good buy.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: FAST, what else exactly can you say?

Weakness: 32-bit

Let me first say that I bought this knowing it would be outclassed by 64-bit processors, I wanted the fast chip right now. But other than that, I've tried to make this computer use 100% of the processor, and I have to be rendering, using Photoshop CS, and gaming BOTH America's Army and Uru to make it slow down. Speed is terrific. That's about all you can say- for the right power for the right price right now, this is the right chip.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: fast processor! Stable! Can be overclocked but i have not tried it yet

Weakness: Price

Processor prices are falling! This processor is ideal for the gaming world, video editing and other complex tasks. The 3.2 processor with the 800 front side bus any 533 bus power. this is the right processor if you are into gaming or video editing

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: weak comparing to $$$

Weakness: too expensive, Athlon 64 better deal more power

This is the best AMD has to offer and it for sure beats Intel's hyperthreading technology. Another thing, it's beginning of a new generation of computing...no more 32 bit for me!"You need a 64-bit OS to take advantage of the 64-bit technology.

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.20 GHz Processor

Strengths: Advertized speed; price reduction; a natural 'mate' for the Intel board w/ the 875 chipset

Weakness: We shall see & HONESTLY REPORT

Well, I'm sitting here in GREAT anticipation over getting my
INTEL BX80532PG3200D 3.2GHz
Intel Socket 478 BOXD875BPZLK Motherboard;
1.5 Gig Memory Corsair OEM Bundle PC-3200 DDR;
Speeze Socket 478 Copper Heatsink and Fan;
Ultra Memory Aluminum Cooler (DDR or SDRAM) Blue;
oh yea, Since May '02-I've been using an Intel 2.0GHz p-4 w/ 1GB of RAMBUS--fast to many-but for my use of AUDIO& VIDEO rendering--I was getting bogged down doing large projects. The RD-RAM @800MHz I guess wasn't all it was cracked up to be-but since I bought it at a "show" I lived with it.
Now I want to crank-up my video biz and at the same time get that inner FEEL GOOD feeling one gets w/ something new, better & exciting. So I've spent literally a few months reading & watching the prices rise & fall on the net. Many of you know what I mean, I'm sure On BOTH accounts. Having been affected by 4 hurracanes down here in Florida--I definately NEED & CRAVE a diversion that would also, in some miraculous way, keep my wife from going ballistic if I made the wrong decision and spent too damn much $$$. Well, I've pacified her a lot by using, for the past 4+ months a "Solar-Clothes-Dryer"-a.k.a. clothesline. :)
which has reduced the gas bill more than 60% for these months. I've also done a few more "conservation methods" so I could afford such a move into the "Hyper-thread" fast lane.
Back to my choice of INTEL:
INTEL has FREE, THAT'S F-R-E-E tech support b-4 I buy !!!
I've never had a reason to call them b-4, but I've had 4 lengthy conversations w/there techs b-4 I bought what I did--and they answered every question without any condescending tones in their voices. I AM IMPRESSED WITH THIS. This plus my 2+ years using my 2gigger and even longer w/ a P-III 800MHz in my son's PC---I'd be fool to change loyaltys !! Would you ? If it ain't broke--don't fix it ! my pappy would always say--I say that but I also add--"you can tweek it a little."
I am not a gamer--I simply want to use VEGAS-4 to arthur videos and the Notorius s l o w (but good pgm) Pinnacle 9--also for video--Whenever I shot say a 1 hour Sony Hi-8 family digital video, included some awesome special FX & musical beds--it would take all night long & part of the next morning to "render" Mpeg-2 and then create a DVD ! So slow was this, I finally said, like mt Uncle Vito would say "forget about it." SO I DID--until 3 weeks ago--then the wheels started turning AS I BURNED THE MIDNIGHT CANDLE---should I stay w/ an ASUS board ? Hell no--after the 850chipset went south, a tech e-mailed me after a long wait--you can only go up to a 2.6 p-4 or a celeron 2.8 w/ a bios upgrade. Yea right, I went to the ASUS url, downloaded all their new BIOS, read the NOT-user-friendly instructions & simply crossed them off the list. Ok, ABIT-their VT-7 is selling for a mere $60, holds 4gb RAM--I'd figure the $ I'd save would go toward the RAM. After researching, even chatting w/NON Intel techs--ABIT was nixed.
Finally a literally 11th hr decision came This Oct 5th:
INTEL ALL THE WAY ! Note--I am a "Doubting Thomas" tho my name is Don--I strive to save every dime I can, 'cause they ain't comin' in as fast as they used to and when they do--they are flying into my '91 Honda's gas tank or payin' a bill. So, w/ charge card in hand, I went for it. To me 64-bit is like HD-TV, and HD-TV is to TV what color was to black & white--but wait a min. I already own a big TV-so when the HD's come down to around $449--I'll betcha I still have my screaming, hyper 3.2.
They all arrive FRIDAY, which to me will be like Christmas as I track the 3-day special d of SANTA, I mean, UPS.
I'll let you all know the degree of difficulty the install is as well as my PERSONAL Benchmarks-which shall include the ability to multitask as well time it takes . . .
Thanks for your time & Happy Computing. . .DON
