Product Details of UbiSoft Far Cry

Description

A tropical paradise seethes with hidden evil in Far Cry, a cunningly detailed action shooter that pushes the boundaries of combat to shocking new levels. Freelance mariner Jack Carver is cursing the day he ever came to this island. A week ago, a brash female reporter named Valerie had offered him an incredible sum of cash to take her to this unspoiled paradise. Shortly after docking, however, Jack's boat was greeted by artillery fire from a mysterious militia group swarming about the island. With his boat destroyed, his money gone, and the gorgeous Valerie suddenly missing, Jack now finds himself facing an army of mercenaries amidst the wilds of the island, with nothing but a gun and his wits to survive. But the further he pushes into the lush jungle canopy, the stranger things become. Jack encounters an insider within the militia group who reveals the horrific details of the mercenaries' true intentions. He presents Jack with an unsettling choice: battle the deadliest mercenaries, or condemn the human race to a maniac's insidious agenda.

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Just about every aspect of the game.

Weakness: Multiplayer. But for me, that's no big deal. And enemy A.I. can be a tad tough, even on easy. Again, no big deal.

What can I say about Far Cry.....well, for one, this is absolutely THE BEST first person/action shooter since the first Half Life or Tron 2.0. The graphics, especially on Ultra, are amazing, to say the least. The particle effects, the water effects, reflections, weapons effects, enemy models, animation, vehicles, level design, heck, simply put, every graphical aspect of this game just oozes with...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Beautiful visuals, Solid AI, Good and lengthy single player campaign, rather funny commentary and responses from the AI, very interactive environments, slightly deformable terrain, interesting story...

Weakness: Multiplayer is lackluster,Can bring even the best rigs to their knees, can demolish older rigs,a few bugs here and there, almost too long of a single player campaign.

This game hit me like a landslide. While the weaknesses can make someone think "How can this be good?", think again. While there are weaknesses, they are far over shadowed by the beautiful terrain and the challenging enemies. The single player campaign is long enough to get you your money's worth and twists and turns enough to keep you guessing. The audio commentary from Jack Carver and the Mercs...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: graphics,gameplay,level design

Weakness: ordinary multiplayer,mediocre voice acting

One day, out of nowhere, came far cry.Not many people really knew too much about it including myself, since most of us were focused on Doom 3 and Half-Life 2.The game became a big hit once it was released and there are numerous reasons why.Graphics wise Far Cry is the best seen on the pc so far, period.Environments are gorgeous, and the character models look very real. But we all know graphics...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: AWESOME graphics and very cool way of playing

Weakness: extremely hard with very smart AI

This game is cutting edge not only graphics wise but gameplay wise as well. You don't have a set way that you can go. It is wide open islands and you can go anywhere you want. One way may lead you through a lot of guys while another there may just be a few. The AI is extremely smart but they also don't "magically" know where you are. Also, you can only get shot a few times before you die without...

One of the greats

Strengths: Scenery is breath taking(even when not using the highest settings), AI is Actually Intelligent, controls are easy to master, the all-in-one package when you're on the handgliders!!

Weakness: Online play is difficult to get set-up, Ubi-Soft may as well be EA when it comes to customer service, voice acting is pretty bad, people graphics could've been better

All in all, this game is the best FPS I've ever played. Though, to be fair, I haven't played F.E.A.R. yet, but even still my FPS experiences are still notable. I played HL2 before I played this game, so I didn't expect much out of this $20(at the time I got it) game. I was blown away! The moment! I started playing this game I couldn't stop. Half Life 2 ain't got nuthin on this scenery! From the...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Absolutely Everything!

Weakness: Killer on your Machine!

This is definetely one of the best FPS games made in the last few years. If you have a good enough system, the graphics are absolutely AMAZING, enviornments are almost like real pictures; detail of the soldiers and creatures is absolutely sick! I ran it on a Very High setting with an AMD 64 3200 overclocked, nVidia 5900XT overcloked and 2Gbs of RAM and it was amazing. Recommend it to anyone with...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Damn pretty. Big, expansive environments with few restrictions. Every trick of the graphics trade on full display. Eerily smart bad guys. Fun vehicles.

Weakness: Fairly long load times. Requires a second mortgage to purchase a computer that can run this game at 'very high' settings. Terrible voice acting.

Every now and then, it's nice to see a game come flying out of the mist and smack the industry upside the head. Far Cry is such a game. It couples the latest and greatest enemy A.I with a graphics engine that is nothing short of stunning. While Doom 3 certainly has more slick effects at work, nothing can match Far Cry's sheer beauty when up and running. This game looks like a tropical postcard in...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Amazing graphics, full advantage of DirextX 9, full advantage of bump-mapping. Great gameplay.

Weakness: Need a decent PC to play it.

This game is the biggest step forward in graphics since quake2, this game uses new technologys like DX9 and bumpmapping to creat a realistic environment. From the lush forests, to the dark and murky tunnles, you will find your self not only shooting up humans, but also the scientific experiments gone wrong. This game is a must have in my books.

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Beautiful settings, a lot of action. Vehicle and weapon choices. Overall the whole game is great.

Weakness: PC Requirements. I have a new system I just built. I'm playing it without any problems, but most people that want to borrow it can't play it on their systems...well maybe that's a good thing.

This game is simply awesome. I'm new to gaming, I actually can't really stand to play a game for much more than a half hour. So this review is not much from a real gamer. My brothers on the other hand play it for hours and hours. When my friends come over they also want to play it for ever. I got Half Life 2 and I'm now playing HL 2. FarCry has some awesome A-I too good at times. I get killed...

UbiSoft Far Cry

Strengths: Graphics, can swim in water, weapon selection, AI, game-play and controls.

Weakness: Multiplayer

Far Cry is a GREAT improvement on AI and visual effects in the FPS genre, however, it appears they forgot to put the multiplayer game on it until the day it was supposed to ship. They clearly just 'tagged on' the multiplayer game. With such a great use of graphics, well thought-out controls, and realistic yet not boring weapons to choose from, this game is screaming for multiplayer all over it....

Far Cry

Unreal Tournament 2004 and Painkiller already on store shelves and Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 (hopefully) around the corner, 2004 promises to be a huge year for FPS fans. One FPS that has been turning heads since last year’s E3 is Far Cry, a title developed by German developer CryTek that promised unsurpassed gameplay coupled with some of the best graphics seen on the PC. Now, Far Cry is finally...

Far Cry

It's hard not to be amazed at what first-time developer CryTek has achieved with their rookie release. Far Cry doesn't just boast cutting-edge technology and a surplus of breathtaking visuals, but also pulls off the amazing triple play of open-ended gameplay far beyond the standard A-to-B-to-C of most shooters. Each of Far Cry's twenty levels is like a little world unto itself, and you could...

Far Cry

I started out loving this game. It had so much of what I'd been missing. Sure, it looks fantastic, but it also plays well and is satisfyingly long; each of the 20 levels should take you about an hour or more to play through, if you don't get risky and keep your head down. But I hit a few level design roadblocks that, combined with the Spartan save game system, made for some numbing repetition of...

Far Cry

Far Cry is only the first game developed by Crytek and it is certainly a revolutionary one. Everything from the graphics, AI and sound effects to the gameplay and multiplayer are all exceptional. This is one great game that no FPS fan should miss.
