Easy to install and highly compatible

Strengths: Northwood package means it works with almost all 478 MBs that support 533 Mhz, unlike the Prescotts which can be 478 but still don't work with a lot of older motherboards Effortless install

Weakness: Does not support hyperthreading. There is one Northwood available at 3.06 that does support HT but it sells for $65 more at most places, and the HT is not worth paying that much more for.

The 512kb cache made a huge difference versus the 128kb cache in the Celeron it replaced. Don't understimate the importance of cache to a user's experience. The 2.8 vs. 2.6 is nowhere near as important as the cache. Get the biggest cache your motherboard supports and then go for the biggest speed, in my opinion. If you're looking here your mb only supports Northwood, and this is the 2nd best cpu...
