Great for it's money for average user

Strengths: Stability at default settings. Price/abilities coefficient.

Weakness: Not for overclockers. If you plan to overclock your system, that's really bad choice.

CPU C2D E6300; MSI 975X PowerUp Edition; HIS X1950 Pro Turbo 256mb IceQ3; Samsung DDR2 6400 1GB; Can't say it's bad, but it doesn't satisfy my needs(overclocking). If you don't plan to overclock - buy it without hesitation (:

I'm in love!

Strengths: Supports Core 2 Duo, good features all for under $200!!

Weakness: Really cannot think of any.

After hearing and reading about some of the reported problems people experienced with this motherboard, I have to say I was very skeptical about its reliability and performance especially since this was going to be my first build. Boy am I glad I went with my gut instinct to give it a shot for myself!! I have had ZERO problems with this motherboard and absolutely love all of its features, the...

Not what it;s rated to be

Strengths: State of the art about 8 months ago

Weakness: I went thru 3 of these boards in less then a year. One after another they failed or had major problems. Even with the latest video and bios upgrades I had problems and without ANY over clocking.

MSI makes some great MB's I've had several myself over the years. This is the first MB I've had that crashed during video playback, memory dumps, then even causing my HD to fail, steer clear, I dumped mine after 3 exchanges. 3 can you believe it?

this board is great

Strengths: meets and exceeds my needs and the price is right

Weakness: none

I have been using Asus MOBOs in the past. This was my first shot at MSI and I am very happy with it. It has all the ports I need now and for the foreseeable future upgrades. I will definitely be adding MSI on the list for my future projects.

Worthwhile trade-off - Easy to recommend

Strengths: Quad Core support, crossfire support, 4 IDE devices, 2 pci, other combinations of features

Weakness: OC potential not comparable to other boards, inability to use Intel RAID and JMicron controller concurrently, fickleness with certain brands of DDR memory

I wanted a board with support for a good mix of new and old tech. This board actually has parallel and serial ports among other features. MSI includes 4 SATA + 2 IDE via onboard Intel controller and then additional 1 SATA + 2 IDE via JMicron. Be forewarned, since BIOS versions 7.2x-7.5x will not allow Intel controller to operate in RAID mode if JMicron controller is enabled. Therefore, options...
