Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40 GB Internal Hard Drive -...Strengths: Fast and Quiet Weakness: none This 7200RPM drive is a very fast drive. The problem with these types of drives is that they can be noisy. Not the case with this one. I was impressed with how quiet this drive is.

I bought the Seagate HD from Fry's with the two rebates in mid June. One rebate got rejected. I haven't heard about the other one. It's almost 2 months. Reason: "The receipt you submitted was dated after the qualifying period for this promotion." It's bogus. Now, they want me to do the extra paper shuffling exercise of writing a cover letter and faxing them the receipt and call back. All this...

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40 GB Internal Hard Drive -...Strengths: Good enough as a secondary master HD. Weakness: 2MB cache. But for the price paid, well very good! Also a REFURBISHED HD from Seagate. $32 after rebates, taxes, stamp and 8 weeks of wait. Installed as 2ndary master to the Seagate 80GB HD(see review). So far, almost 5 months now, no problem. ALWAYS use a UPS for power events - low voltage, voltage/current surge/spikes and telephone line surges. Planning to install this to replace the cd-rw drive inside my external i/o magic cd-rw drive. Seagate BarracudaStrengths: Seagate makes some of the most reliable drives on the market. This particular drive is just the right size not to incurage storeage of things you have no possible way of backing up................... Weakness: None Great drive - the performance gain going from a 5400 rpm drive to a 7200 rpm drive is very noticeable. I cloned the original 6GB drive so the installation only took about 20 minutes. All Seagate products seam to be very quiet also - would recommend to anyone needing to expand storage or replace an existing EIDE drive.

Seagate Barracuda 40GB Hard DriveStrengths: 5 year warranty easy set-up Weakness: price a little higher than western digital. no problems with this drive. easy format-OS install- works great. definitely worth the few extra bucks for the longer warranty and seagate quality... i'll continue to buy seagate products!

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40 GB Internal Hard Drive -...Strengths: Easy install, fast drive, quiet Weakness: none so far This drive is much quieter than the Western Digital and Maxtor units I have used in the past. Install was a piece of cake. It is very quick in file retrieval. I don't have anything bad to say about this drive -- the 5 year warranty is a big plus.
